Nektony Offers Tools to Prepare a Mac for OS X Yosemite

No Comments

Odessa, Ukraine – Nektony today is proud to announce the launch of Getting Ready for Yosemite, a step-by-step guide that helps users migrate to Apple’s new operation system. In addition, the company highlights three of its best selling disk utilities that serve to aid Mac users prior to installing Yosemite for OS X. Anyone upgrading to the latest OS X 10.10 will find Nektony’s set of disk utilities very useful:

Boost & Memory is used to check the current memory usage and releases the inactive RAM. It forces the system to recover wasted memory and make it available to processes that need it. Boost & Memory allows clearing inactive RAM using automatic or manual modes.

Disk Expert helps to perform an inventory of disk space and get rid from useless and bulky content quickly. Disk Expert quickly scans any supported drive and generates a chart representing the file system. During installation, many people are faced with the lack of hard drive space for installation. It allows to scan: Hard Disk Volumes, CD and DVD disks, Flash drives, External storage disks, and even mounted DMG volumes. Disk Expert integrates with Apple OS X familiar system tools, so the user can preview a file using QuickLook and get detailed information with minimum clicks.

ClearDisk is used for immediate cleaning a Mac hard drive of unnecessary files. It scans the file categories that usually clutter up a Mac hard drive with unnecessary data, such as Language Resources, Downloads, Caches, Trash and Temporary Files.

Similar to latest OS X 10.9, Apple’s upgrade to Yosemite is a major one, yet is really simple to install. However before installing the upgrade it is recommended to perform basic cleanup operations to ensure that a Mac is ready to upgrade. Disk Utilities by Nektony are proven to be valuable tools to make a Mac ready for upgrading.

Monochrome 2.2.1 is now available at the Mac App Store

No Comments

Charlotte, North Carolina – einstein’s legacy v2.0, LLC, today is proud to announce the release of Monochrome 2.2.1 for OS X. Monochrome is an application for converting batches of color images to grayscale, giving you control over the conversion process and applied effects, so you can create a consistent-looking set of output images. The 2.2.1 Update expands the available GPU-based image rendering effect and adds new options for slide show playback.

“We’ve added a collection of geometry-based effects to Monochrome. These effects, along with several usability changes, make Monochrome one of the most efficient ways for professionals and amateurs to process large batches of images,” says einstein’s legacy Chief Product Officer Douglas A. Welton. “We also added slide show features that make Monochrome a great way to explore image processing possibilities interactively.”

Monochrome 2.2.1 includes the following key features:

Improved Conversion:
Monochrome gives you the option to convert images using an RGB or HSL-based color mixer, simple or advanced selective color desaturation, monotone color re-mapping or Core Image presets. All rendering is done on the GPU for fast, effective processing.

Batch Processing:
Monochrome exports converted images using a background task. This allows you to continue work on other activities without waiting for the image processing to finish. Use the Activity Monitor to track the progress of your exports.

Image Previews:
Monochrome features six modes for viewing images: original image, the converted image, two overlay modes showing both the original and converted image in the same location, and two stacked modes showing the original and converted images side-by-side. The new Toggle key lets you easily jump between image preview modes.

Sharing:
Monochrome can share converted images via e-mail, using popular internet services (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn etc.) or with local applications like iPhoto or Aperture. Also, you can drag’n'drop or cut’n'paste the preview image to other applications.

Printing:
Monochrome provides three templates for printing your images: one image per page, an image grid contact sheet, or image slices. Print operations can also be saved as PDF files.

Slide Shows:
Monochrome dynamically creates a slide show from the converted images in your project. Slide shows display full screen and can be navigated manually or as a timed slide show. slide shows can now be played on any display connected to your computer.

Image Effects:
The rendering pipeline now includes more than thirty new effects, such as edge burning, X-rays, motion blurring and vintage photo processing. For efficiency, these effects are rendered on the GPU.

Single Window User Interface:
Monochrome operations have been consolidated into a single window, giving you an easy and effective tool for manipulating your images.

System Requirements
* OS X 10.9 or higher
* 3 MB disk space

Pricing and Availability:
Monochrome 2.2.1 is available for $19.99 (USD) from the Mac App Store (in the Photography category).

PaintCode 2.2 adds Smart Symbols

No Comments

San Francisco, California – PixelCut today released PaintCode 2.2 with Smart Symbols, a powerful new feature for prototyping user interface designs. PaintCode is a unique vector drawing app that generates Objective-C or Swift code in real time, acting as a bridge between developers and graphic designers. With PaintCode, developers can create an app that is truly resolution-independent, using code (instead of a large number of image assets) to draw a user interface.

Smart Symbols allow designers to draw something on one canvas, then reuse it as a Symbol on other canvases in the document. When the designer adjusts the original canvas, all changes are instantly visible in all Symbols.

“Symbols in PaintCode are unique – you can easily make them resizable and parametric. For example, it is possible to create an analog watch symbol that draws the hands differently depending on the exact time you specify,” said Mike Antonic, lead developer of PaintCode.

In addition to Smart Symbols, PaintCode 2.2 also improves Yosemite compatibility and brings support for 3x images, 3x canvas preview and 3x faster image export.

“PaintCode has the best support for Symbols of any drawing app on the Mac. We always wanted this feature when we were using PaintCode internally, and now when it’s finally ready, we’re thrilled to make it available to all our customers as a free update,” said Peter Krajcik, PixelCut CEO.

System Requirements:
* OS X 10.8 or later
* 5.2 MB

Pricing and Availability:
PaintCode 2.2 is available as a free update to existing PaintCode 2 customers. New customers can purchase PaintCode 2.2 on the Mac App Store and PixelCut’s own store for $99.99. Further information about PaintCode and the trial version can be found on the product website.
