Vancouver, Canada – The IoT Design Shop at Finger Food Studios is pleased to announce general commercial availability of our SIGNUL Beacon System. This achievement is the product of two years of design and effort that has culminated in a unique and engaging beacon product that is specifically targeted for personal use by our customers.

SIGNUL beacon “zones” are established by placing a SIGNUL beacon at a physical point of interest. This could be at home, at work, in a vehicle, or any other place where a micro-location pointer is useful. The size of the zone is fully configurable as are the reactions that will occur when a smartphone detects entry or exit from a zone. These reactions include launching Apps, starting messages or phone calls, triggering alerts, and more. Additionally, a SIGNUL channel is available on IFTTT (if-this-then-that) to allow integration with home automation systems along with a variety of other services that offer IFTTT channels such as Philips Hue, SmartThings, Nest, and WeMo.

The SIGNUL ecosystem was developed by the IoT Design Shop, and final production was funded via a successful Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign. Trent Shumay, CTO and product owner for SIGNUL describes the achievement by saying, “Going into our campaign, we felt that this was a product that needed to be made. Most beacon solutions at the time were targeted at marketing or business solutions, but missed the unique features that a smartphone-as-presence solution could offer. A year later, we believe this to be even more true than when we set out on our journey. Most people are tethered to their phone at all times, so being able to unite their physical and digital worlds via the presence of their phone is becoming incredibly powerful.”

Pricing and Availability:
SIGNUL retails for $50 (USD), and is available for order now on the IoT Design Shop Store. iOS and Android are supported, and Beta access to the SIGNUL IFTTT channel is available today.
