Madrid, Spain – Monkimun, an award-winning educational technology company that makes language learning for children ages two-to-six fun, today announced that in the last six months there were more than a million downloads of its unique language learning apps and more than 10 million lessons delivered in the last year, making Monkimun apps a top go-to solution for language learning for young children. To date, Monkimun’s six apps have earned seven high profile industry awards and nearly 4,500 five-star reviews from parents delighted their children are learning English, Mandarin Chinese and Spanish.

“We have a 2 year old kid and she loves Monkimun, specially Birthday Party, Hide & Seek and Monki Home. Thank you Monki team for help our kids learn English having fun,” shared a reviewer from Spain on the Apple store. “This app is designed well to teach preschoolers a second language in a naturalistic way. Fun, too–even my 7 year old loved it,” remarked a US-based parent also from the Apple store.

“Chinese Class is so fun and easy and I found myself remembering day after day the words I had learned previously. The pictures are rational and very practical to the word and make sense. The way it is presented is clean and simple, few distractions. As both a linguist and a language teacher this app is great for learning Chinese and hope to see something similar for other asian languages! I would recommend this to anyone!” said Jennifer McQueen on Google Play, making the common request for many more apps in the future from Monkimun.

This summer, Monkimun will release a subscription-based adaptive language learning platform that integrates lessons and content into a one-stop-shop for parents looking to raise multilingual kids. The platform will also allow communities of teachers and parents to contribute lessons. Post platform launch, Monkimun will accelerate its new stand-alone app releases to once a month , delivered among the three core app stores: Apple, Google and Amazon. Finally, the company is negotiating partnerships with a variety of publishing powerhouses and notable educational institutions specializing in early childhood education for co-development of content.

“All parents want more for their children. Giving them the gift of language learning between two to six, when their brains are hard-wired to learn language, means learning can be easier for their kids–and those kids will enjoy the advantages of multilingualism throughout the rest of their lives,” said Cristobal Viedma, CEO and co-founder of Monkimun. “10 million lessons in our first year is the equivalent of 56 years of continuous language learning. That’s a lot of young children acquiring another language. Monkimun apps are forever linked with significantly reducing the effort of language learning, making learning fun, and helping our youngest learners gain a leg-up in life.”

One may assume advantages of multilingualism are limited to the ability to converse in more than one language. But there’s more. Studies show multilinguals tend to score better on standardized tests, especially in math, reading, and vocabulary, are more perceptive to their surroundings, and therefore better at focusing in on important information while weeding out misleading information. In addition, multilinguals tend to have enhanced memory, planning, and multi-tasking skills, use more of their brains than monolinguals, and even outperform monolinguals on creativity tests.
