Ashland, Oregon – Art Authority, developers of the award-winning line of classic art apps, today introduced Art Authority for iPhone 4.0, bringing many of the features of their #1 selling iPad app to the iPhone, just in time for Black Friday. Optimized for Apple’s newly introduced iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, the app also includes mobility features beyond those of the iPad version. Special 80%-off introductory pricing is in effect through the Thanksgiving weekend, with the app available for only 99 cents.

Art Authority for iPhone 4.0 is a completely re-designed version of the app. “Until Apple’s recent iPhone announcements, we were really focused on the iPad as the best art viewing, learning and exploring platform,” said Alan Oppenheimer, president of Art Authority. “The 6 and 6 Plus caused us to re-evaluate that focus and bring to market what is essentially a new iPhone app, but one with a great pedigree.”

The new version of Art Authority for iPhone is based on the iPad feature set, bringing innovations like Art Real Size and Art Near Me to the iPhone for the first time. It continues to use the same 70,000+ work, 1000+ artist database as the rest of the Art Authority line. It even goes beyond the iPad version by taking advantage of the iPhone platform with new mobility features like the ability to call museums directly from within the app.

Art Authority for iPhone is normally $4.99 through the App Store, but special introductory pricing of only 99 cents is available through the Thanksgiving weekend (the iPad app is also 50% off, only $4.99, during that time). Upgrades from previous versions are free. iOS 7.1 or later is required. All the details of the Art Authority line of apps are available on the Art Authority web site and blog.

Art Authority for iPad is the only iPad Reference app named to both of Apple’s Rewind “best of” lists. It brings 70,000 high-resolution classic works of art to users’ fingertips. Hailed as “an experience unlike any other” and “visually dazzling,” the app (along with its K-12 age-appropriate edition) professionally displays paintings and sculptures by over 1000 major western artists from ancient times through current-day.

Art Authority is the product of an innovative collaboration between two separate software companies, Open Door Networks and Project A. Art Authority’s mission is the design, development and deployment of the best ways for users to experience classic art on their modern-day devices.
