Seattle, Washington – Announcing SmartDay – an integrated calendar, journal, task manager, and project planner for iPhone, iPad, and Mac computers. SmartDay automatically schedules pending tasks into the free time in one’s calendar and updates them adaptively as situations change. By combining tasks and events into a single time-line view, it’s easy to see what can be accomplished by the end of the day, taking the stress out of ‘getting things done.’ SmartDay synchronizes across all Apple devices via its free cloud hub, SmartDay Online.
A Truly Integrated Calendar:
The key to SmartDay is an integrated calendar that displays a proposed agenda for the entire day – fixed appointments and schedules, plus prioritized tasks, even important notes. The calendar adapts effortlessly to shifting priorities, to faster or slower completion of tasks, and even to changes in one’s working day (“My afternoon meeting was cancelled – what else can I get done?”).
Notes And Journaling:
Notes can be associated with any date by dragging them into the calendar. They can also be linked to other tasks and events – for example, notes from a meeting can be linked to action items from that meeting, and to an upcoming follow-up meeting, for easy reference.
Task Management:
SmartDay’s task list features pre-set filters such as GTDo for focusing on the top task from each project. Tasks can be prioritized with quick actions such as ‘do today’ or ‘defer until next week.’ Current tasks are then automatically scheduled into the integrated calendar.
Project Planning:
SmartDay offers drag-and-drop project planning in a variety of calendar views – day, week and month. You can drag tasks from the list or from a projects view, directly onto the calendar to create deadlines. Project summaries show progress at a glance.
Same Features, Different Devices:
SmartDay offers the same experience on iPod touch, iPhone, iPad, and all Mac computers, while taking advantage of technologies offered by each. The iOS version allows tasks and alerts to be triggered by location, and offers task sharing via AirDrop. It also integrates with the Maps app for easy driving directions and can even set meeting alerts based on driving time. The Mac version resides on the menu bar and can be docked to the left or right side of the desktop for easy reference while working on other applications. A single click pops open a full-screen week, month, and multi-month planner view. Because it also connects to the OS X Calendar, external calendars such as Google and Outlook can be integrated into the system.
“This release offers SmartDay for the first time ever on iPad,” says Managing Partner Michael Jardine. “Because it’s a Universal version, that means you can use the same app on your iPhone for the same price. The Mac version is equally ambitious and was over a year in development. And now with SmartDay Online, everything is connected.”
