In the busiest time of the year. Finding a perfect present is hard work and requires full attention. Just before everything is ready, you need a gift card to go along with the present. To make it a special gift, you want a special card – a personal card. This is where Merry eCard comes to you as a simple, yet powerful gift card creator. The App has built-in themes for the fastest way to create a card. However, Merry eCard shows its full potential, when own images and photos are imported.

Merry eCard Winter’s Magic contains 22 theme images perfectly suited for greeting and gift cards for Christmas and the winter season in general.

Sharing by sending e-mails is one of the core features. Here, a special background can be selected from the 39 built-in sharing themes or the user can import own images. Three layout types are available and the resulting card can also be published directly to Facebook. Printing using AirPrint allows the user to restrict sizes to the most common envelope types. Both US and international paper sizes are supported and cards can be printed in portrait and landscape.

Photo editing has the expected filters and effects, such as brightness, blur, vignette etc. Additionally there are three special effects created for Merry eCard. These are frame, snow and color flow. The frame effect adds a colored frame or border with variable size around the image. The snow effect is more sophisticated than the usual noise effect found in other applications. The user can select the color and the density of the snow. Color Flow is a special effect best described by referring to the iTunes cover artwork style, where the image of an album or song dissolves into the background. Drawing is supported for the iPad. Ideal for signatures or short messages on the inlay page of the card.

Simplicity is the key. The concept of Merry eCard is to provide a fast and very user friendly card App. Anybody must be able to create a beautiful card and send it by e-mail, share it or print it. The photo editor provides 16 effects and filters for enhancing theme images and 5 of these effects can also be applied to the inlay section of a card. Again, it was the aim to make it simple to use. This was achieved by using a layer for each effect. The user can always change an effect or filter without the use of undo and redo. The App stores the applied operations and settings instead of storing the result. This way you can change the image and re-use the effects. Applying the filters and effects are done by utilizing the hardware of the iPhone and iPad to its maximum. Everything the user does is applied at once and the effect is shown immediately.

There are many small details in Merry eCard, which makes life easier for the card creator. For instance, colors of the theme image are analyzed and added to the color palette. These colors can be used for effects, backgrounds, texts and handwriting.

The core of the App is based on the Merry eCard engine, which is used by several eCard Apps. The engine is currently in version 2.1 and has two years of development behind it. Latest technologies from Apple are used to achieve best performance. The main reason for Merry eCard to be iOS 7 exclusive is, that SpriteKit is used to have real-time rendering of effects on a stable framework.
