Zurich, Switzerland – Appoint creator Urs Gort has released an updated version of the powerful calendar app, including stunning new color themes, resolution for time conflicts, and other improvements. Aimed at people with busy schedules and little time, the app’s clever auto-completion engine prefills information based on past events, eliminating time-consuming typing in favor of a few swipes. Appoint 2.3 for iOS is now available on the iTunes App Store.
Appoint is the most customizable calendar tool available for iOS devices, so it is no surprise that personalization features are the focus of the latest release. Users can now choose from professionally designed color palettes that fit in beautifully with iOS 7, or create custom themes from any color combination imaginable.
“Calendars are very personal, and this is just another way you can make Appoint your own,” says the app’s developer, Urs Gort. “A live preview shows you exactly how your calendars will look with the colors you choose.”
This latest release also adds thoughtful tweaks aimed at Appoint’s busiest users. Invitations are displayed automatically so that a user can accept or decline in a tap, or even write a quick reply to all attendees of a meeting. And a helpful warning appears whenever a time conflict appears between two appointments, with a button to resolve it in just a tap.
“Appoint is more like a top-notch assistant than an ordinary calendar,” explains Gort. “Not only will it alert you when you try to schedule overlapping events, but it can resolve those time conflicts too. Day, week, month, and a handy list view make viewing your schedule possible from every angle.”
The new features in version 2.3 are natural enhancements to the Appoint’s core goal of reducing typing and making calendar entry possible with just one hand. Appoint uses the contact information, past events, and locations already present on a user’s iPhone to intelligently create new events. Tap on a date to schedule an appointment, or shuffle existing events just by dragging them to different time slots on the calendar.
Appoint stays in sync with other devices by using calendar and contact information from iCloud, Google, Exchange, or any other service supported by iOS. The latest version of the app now opens turn-by-turn directions in the navigation app a user prefers, including Google Maps and Waze.
International support is extensive, with regional time and date locales for the entire world, and language localizations in English, German, Japanese, Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, Traditional Chinese.

Urs Gort and Andreas Peter are a small, independent development duo based in Switzerland. Appoint came to life originally as a project to help Gort’s wife, a busy private therapist and mother, to manage lots of work with little time. Not able to find a solution to meet her needs, Gort, an experienced software engineer, developed an app that would solve the problem for busy people everywhere.
