New York, New York – With kids everywhere immersed in digital devices – smartphones, computers, tablets – many parents struggle with how to manage their screen time. yummico, the children’s media company co-founded by children’s media veterans Traci Paige Johnson (Blue’s Clues) and Robert Mowen and feature filmmakers Caroline Baron (Capote) and Anthony Weintraub, is releasing the interactive e-book ScreenTime. Written by Baron and illustrated by Paige Johnson, ScreenTime is an ally for kids and parents as they navigate the complex, blurry world of how much time is enough.

The first title in yummico’s new preschool series The Adventures of Ash & Ollie, ScreenTime, launches for iOS on the iTunes App Store and for Android on Google Play ($2.99). ScreenTime is produced in collaboration with Fingerprint and playable on Fingerprint Play –the first kid’s mobile learning and entertainment network.

In ScreenTime, Ash and Ollie can’t wait to play games on Daddy’s phone or on the computer. But how much time is too much, and what are the rules? Respecting their parents’ rules, the boys do their chores and then get to explore and play on their devices. Before they ‘turn out like zombies for staring too long,’ they go outside to join their ‘own social network’ – a play date.

Enhanced features on the ebook include animation and games with rich, page-turn animations and touch-and-swipe interactions.

Featuring two mischievous brothers, the Ash & Ollie series is a fun and funny buddy adventure, using visual storytelling and physical comedy to frame stories that focus on the social, emotional and behavioral skills children need for success in school and everyday life. For Ash and Ollie, every day begins in an ordinary way, then explodes into a world of imagination and exploration. Ash & Ollie’s curriculum revolves around the myriad of childhood development issues parents deal with every day – sleep, sibling rivalry, sharing, following rules, understanding feelings, confronting fear, screen time, etc. Life lessons are seamlessly integrated into the action inside the story, allowing kids to learn positive lifestyle habits for themselves, while setting up the structure for parents to speak with their kids about these issues.

yummico launched in 2013 with the critically acclaimed and award-winning app Yummilloo Rainbow Power, the first in the Yummiloo musical food adventure series. Yummiloo Rainbow Power received top ratings from reviewers such as Common Sense Media and was ‘New and Noteworthy’ on the iTunes store for over thirty weeks after its release. Yummiloo Rainbow Power has received numerous awards and accolades, including Parent’s Choice, National Parenting Publications, Creative Child Magazine, Parent Tested, Parent Approved (PTPA) and Indie Prize Showcase.

yummico has teamed up with New York’s WNET, America’s flagship public media outlet, to develop a public media project focused on nutrition and healthy behavior and featuring original digital content from Yummiloo. The company also recently announced a partnership with Sprout, the first dedicated 24-hour preschool network and DHX Media, the family entertainment creator, producer and licensor, to develop and produce original 11-minute interactive appisodes of the new yummico series Edison the Invention Detective.
