San Francisco, California – Photo startup AtomKnows today debuts the first photo book SDK for iOS app developers and photo retailers at the Mobile Photo Connect Conference in San Francisco. Launched in 2013, AtomKnows became known for tapsBook – its fast mobile photo book creation app featuring innovative work flow and optimized mobile user experience. Upon a successful pilot with 40 beta partners, AtomKnows now offers the core technology behind tapsBook as a photo book creation and ordering SDK for iOS app developers and photo retailers to offer photo book merchandising options effortlessly.

Creating photo book is a popular and creative way for consumers to preserve their favorite digital photos. The existing integration between mobile photo apps and photo book creation software typically requires users to leave the photo app and go to another website to continue the book creation and ordering process; this app-hopping will cause a drop in user engagement and poor user experience. By using the tapsBook SDK, app developers and photo retailers can let their users create and order photo books quickly without leaving their app.

The tapsBook SDK can be integrated into any existing iOS app running on iOS 7/8 with minimal coding. It ships with rapid photo book creation tools, built-in page templates, and flexible integration with fulfillment partners. App developers and photo retailers will be able to create and import custom page templates, as well as choose their own fulfillment partner or use tapsBook’s.

During the SDK beta phase, Photo Finale, a leading photo solutions provider, used tapsBook’s SDK to create branded iPad photo book apps for 40 national and regional photo business clients such as Mailpix and IPI (Individual Photo Imagers) in 2 months.

“In our business, speed to market is essential and by integrating the tapsBook SDK, we were able to introduce branded photo book creation apps for our retailers in a very short period of time,” says Stephen Giordano, Jr., CEO, Photo Finale Inc. “I am pleased by the flexibility the tapsBook SDK offers. Our retail photo businesses are thrilled that they can now have their own app that takes orders for their own photo books that come to them for fulfillment.”

The key features of the tapsBook photo book SDK include:
Photo book creation:
* Automatic layout of selected photos into pages
* Mobile-optimized user experience for users to quickly customize the page design
* Advanced styling options including page backgrounds and photo border
* Full featured text editing options including 20 built-in fonts, size and color
* Drag and drop page sorter – rearrange pages with ease

Photo book templates:
* Built-in page templates with 100 layout options
* Options to import custom templates and backgrounds

Photo book ordering:
* Integrated photo book fulfiller network, optional eCommerce integration
* Flexibility to support fulfillment partners of app developer/photo retailer’s choice

“As an app developer, you care most about user engagement and monetization – that is where we want to help,” says Sherwood Yao, CEO, AtomKnows. “We created the SDK to help photo apps and retailers add an engaging iOS-native visual storytelling experience to their apps and monetize this experience.”
