New York, New York – New York Times #1 bestselling cookbook author and Food Network star, Giada De Laurentiis marked the first year of Giada: A Digital Weekly with app awards, industry recognition, highly rated consumer rankings and a record-breaking number of downloads.
De Laurentiis, in partnership with her longtime publisher, Clarkson Potter/Publishers, debuted the subscription-based digital magazine in Fall 2013, delivering a new content- and photo-packed issue reflecting Giada’s lifestyle and entertaining tips and recipes for health-conscious cooks and busy families each week. Giada: A Digital Weekly received over 300K downloads in the first year, making the app one of Random House LLC’s most successful app launches of the year. Given the app’s broad success, a web version, www.GiadaWeekly.com was also created to ensure the digital magazine was available to anyone with access to a web browser. The web version was selected as an Official Honoree in the 18th Annual Webby Awards in the Lifestyle category.
The iPad version of Giada: A Digital Weekly was also recognized by Apple as a Best of Newsstand app in 2013. The e-magazine offers its readers an engaging, on-the-go resource for timely, original content that’s ready when you are, wherever you are, with up-to-the-minute ideas for holidays, weeknight mealtime and seasonal entertaining.
Every week, readers can access exclusive articles, recipes, audio and video content. The app also features a recipe box, and the ability to save recipes and share them via email, Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. Each issue also contains Giada’s “hotlist” of what she’s listening to, reading or watching, and a weekly “Feel Good” feature devoted to products, recipes, and other ideas that enhance readers’ wellness
The content, entertainment value and functionality of the app have been a huge success, garnering a user ranking of 4.5 out 5 stars. The iPhone version has been ranked #1 in Apple Newsstand’s Cooking, Food and Drink category since August, and has remained in the Top 4 since launching in October 2013.
“I’m thrilled with the success the digital weekly. It’s been incredibly exciting to be able to share the things I’ve learned about eating and feeling my best with my fans in such a direct and immediate way, and also to give them deeper access to my own life and lifestyle,” said Giada De Laurentiis. “I love that we can deliver this upbeat, inspiring, and of course delicious content to them when and where they want it, any time, anywhere.”
“Giada has been an amazing partner,” said Pam Krauss, publisher of Giada: A Digital Weekly, “her contributions to the magazine are endlessly creative and engaging. We’re thrilled with the response from readers and look forward to providing even more of the content they love as well as taking full advantage of the enhanced utility made possible by the introduction of iOS 8.”
