Spokane, Washington – PhatWare, a leading professional software application developer, is happy to announce today the immediate release of WritePad 8.0, the new version of the popular handwriting recognition and note-taking app for iPads and iPhones. WritePad 8 now includes a handwriting recognition-based input method that can be enabled as an iOS 8 custom keyboard extension and used in any iPad app.
WritePad 8 has been completely redesigned for iOS 8 to deliver improved handwriting recognition quality and best user experience while taking notes. The new input panel not only can be used as a keyboard extension but also offers new features, including a built-n calculator, better integration with user-defined shortcuts, advanced configuration options, a popup punctuation keyboard, and buttons to quickly toggle between handwriting recognition modes. In addition, the new version of WritePad has been optimized for better performance and appearance on iOS 8 and features an improved user interface, updated spell checker dictionaries, and better integration with iCloud, allowing the import and export of text documents.
About WritePad:
WritePad 8.0 is designed to deliver considerably faster note-taking, by offering multiple suggestions for words and phrases as notes are taken in the user’s own handwriting. As a user writes anywhere on the screen or in a designated area, alternative recognition results and word completions are presented in a scrollable suggestion bar next to the text, allowing a user to select an alternative result if the initial translation of the handwriting is incorrect.
To further speed-up and simplify the process of taking notes on the iPad, spell-checker suggestions are presented to a user in real-time when the text cursor is positioned on a misspelled word. WritePad also has an advanced shorthand feature, which enable users to insert often used sentences or to perform text editing by simply writing a command name and drawing a circle around it.
For those who collaborate with people in other countries, WritePad offers superior integration with an online language translator. Notes can be written in English, for example, which can be automatically converted to Spanish, or fifteen other common languages. Documents can be synchronized with Box, Dropbox, Evernote, Google Drive, iCloud, and Microsoft OneDrive, as well as sent via email, SMS, tweeted, posted on Facebook, printed, and exported as PDF.
