“There are now a ton of photo editing apps proliferating the App Store,” says Christine Chan of Apps Gone Free. “But I’m here to tell you about another one that should be added to your photography arsenal: iDarkroom. This app has become one of my favorite apps to use because of the variety of effects.” (27 Feb 2011)

There are many special effects and overlays to be optimized in iDarkroom. iDarkroom includes a total of 22 color filters and 17 monochrome filters as well as more than 40 different overlay effects. The toon filter converts the image to a cartoon while the ink filter makes the image look like a hard-drawn ink line or dot drawing. Additional filters include woodcut, pop art, and halftone. Users can also modify their image with a Tilt Shift filter that includes lens blur, Radial blur filter, Circular blur filter, and a glow special effect filter.

Overlay effects include 10 film paper effects, 10 Grunge effects, 11 light leak effects, and 10 frame effects with adjustable texture. The updated iDarkroom also features customizable Bokeh effects such as lens distortion, dispersion, and lens blur. Additionally, most options allow the user to control the intensity of the effect.

“iDarkroom can be summed up in five words,” says Kenny Helphill from Tap! (Issue 04, 22 Jun 2011). “Cross process, texture, bokeh and vignette. There are multiple variations of each available and they’re all very effective. It’s terrific fun at a very reasonable price.”

iDarkroom contains 10 powerful and unique adjustment tools for users to customize their image. As users apply each tool, the photo shows the adjustment in real-time. This allows for a more detailed-oriented adjustment experience. Users can adjust their photos with:

* Curve, including specific red, green, and blue options
* Shadows/highlights
* Sharp
* Color balance
* Temperature
* Vibrance
* Saturation
* Contrast
* Brightness

It’s never been easier to spice up your Instagram photos.” (29 Feb 2012)
