Torgau, Germany – Music software developer, Joerg Garbers today is thrilled to announce the release of Musk MIDI Player 2.2 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The app allows users to download and play back MIDI and karaoke files and has special features for practicing musicians and advanced users. This release adds a pre-installed General MIDI SoundFont, a karaoke view and a better integrated MIDI file search engine. This makes the app much more accessible to the general audience and first time users.

The app is designed to be open: Users can import MIDI files, karaoke files and zip archives containing many MIDI files via iTunes, iCloud, iCloud Drive or other document providers. Users can search for MIDI files on the web, tap on linked files in Safari, Mail and other apps and open them in Musk MIDI Player. A built-in file manager allows to organize, open and share files. Users can install their own sound fonts and live audio output can be sent to Inter-App-Audio and Audiobus compatible applications.

There are some special features for practicing musicians: Uses can use the karaoke view and a meta event list to move the playhead to marked positions. Active notes are displayed on a keyboard such that notes from different voices are distinguishable. Users can highlight selected voices by attaching better audible instrument sounds. They can freely mix, mute, solo or hide voices. To make following a printed score easier, bar-beat positions and lyrics can be announced during playback using the iOS speech synthesizer.

With its low price (no In-App Purchases), its open architecture and special features, Musk MIDI Player is an alternative to more polished MIDI file players on the App Store.
