Amsterdam, Netherlands – From the day iOS7 was released the sales of Easy Calendar, a third party calendar app for iOS, is on the rise. The reason: Although Apple’s calendar app that comes with iOS was beautifully restyled to fit the iOS7 flat design, many people experience it as less useful.
Lots of people on blogs and discussion forums write about the list view that’s now behind a search button and the fact that you cannot add new events from it anymore. Other people complain about the new month view. In iOS6 it used to be that scanning the days with your finger would reveal a small list of the events for that day. That is also gone. For those reasons more and more people seem to show interest in third party calendar app like Easy Calendar.
“I first couldn’t believe the sudden increase of sales.”, says Jos Jong, one of the creators of Easy Calendar. “It looks like the iOS7 calendar app was redesigned with form over function. We know Apple can do better. But obviously we are very pleased to see that more and more people now discover the ease of use of our app.”
Since its release in 2011 Easy Calendar makes keeping a calendar as simple as possible: just 3 taps to add an event and 2 to change one. And according to the huge number of 4 and 5 star user rankings people seem to like that concept.
The latest 3.0 version now fully fits the iOS7 flat design language.

Easy Calendar was developed by Tom van Zummeren, Jim van Zummeren and Jos Jong (Devista B.V.). Although there already were many calendar apps, the team concluded that most require too many taps for basic day-to-day tasks. Their cooperative design follows the 80/20 rule: simplicity at its core, but with an opportunity to access advanced features when required.
