Bangkok, Thailand – Bangkok, a hub of app development and mobile phone penetration is this year’s venue for hosting GMASA 2016, the Global Mobile App Summit & Awards, organized by Indian-based Apps World Mag which is a part of the DCI Group. GMASA was first held in the fast-growing startup and IT city of Chennai in India in May last year.

Digital visionaries, tech specialists, entrepreneurs and marketing experts from across Thailand, ASEAN and the world are gathering for the in-depth one-day event at the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit on January 22nd 2016 from 9:00 am – 6:00 pm. A networking evening follows, promising attendees an unparalleled opportunity to meet and connect with savvy individuals at the forefront of this exciting and rapidly changing digital arena.

Future Tech and Interactive Tech Debate:
GMASA 2016 promises lively, intelligent debates and is an educational must for professionals involved with mobile markets on a localized or international scale; a unique platform for participants and attendees to come together and share new ideas in an engaging, focused and interactive environment. A spectacular, hands-on exhibition at GMASA will also feature the latest mobile technology available today and being utilized by groundbreaking companies and the consumers of tomorrow.

In its second year, GMASA is designed to reveal and discuss future trends, effective strategies and relevant experiences in the fast-developing mobile market. Eight panel discussions engage visitors with interactive insights, featuring industry leaders involved with mobile markets, app development, gaming and digital media, such as Singapore’s leading media company, Mediacorp.

The focus this year is on gaming which should attract many of Thailand’s estimated 60,000 app developers and the growing numbers abroad, according to C R Venkatesh, Managing Director and CEO of Dot Com Infoway, organiser of the conference.

“Although relatively small compared to the bigger Asian countries, the Thai mobile games market is on a steep growth curve. The total revenue from mobile games in Thailand reached USD93.5 million in 2014 and should increase up to almost USD300 million in 2017. Mobile currently makes up over 40% of all games revenue in Thailand, and this share is due to reach over 60% in 2017.”

Mobile Penetration:
Thailand is a natural choice for GMASA 2016, being a leader within the ASEAN region in terms of the smartphone market. Mobile phone penetration in Thailand in Q1 2015 was close to 180% due to multiple phone ownership, with over 80 million 3G subscribers. Some 75% of mobile internet users in the country are under 35 years old with a culture of utilizing apps for gaming, video access and music, as well as adding to the region’s rising and extremely lucrative e-commerce industry.

International Keynote Speakers:
GMASA also features 10 keynote addresses, giving visitors a wealth of invaluable advice and real-world tips to sharpen their competitive edge within or via mobile markets. An impressive line-up of high-profile speakers includes Global Head of Gaming Partnerships and Head of Mobile APAC at Google, Sergio Salvador; Markuu Lepisto, Principal Technology Evangelist at Amazon Web Services in Singapore; and Director of Product Strategy & Sales at Twitter for APAC, Americas & Emerging Markets, Maya Hari.
