Pfaeffikon, Switzerland – Pilcrow AG today is proud to announce their up-and-coming release of Document Manager – Scan Edit Convert, soon to be available on the App Store. Document Manager is aimed for a smooth workflow, allowing to complete office tasks without having leaving the app.

“Document Manager apps and file managers are widespread, most of them specialized on specific tasks,” according to Christian Schaffner, GM of Pilcrow AG. “Document Manager for iOS is not focused on specific tasks but aims to be the tool for more or less any task that has to do with file handling.”

With tablets being used more and more, mobile office is changing. Undoubtedly a tablet is smaller, lighter and easier to carry around that a notebook. With the right app one should be able to complete office tasks without even leaving this app. Pilcrow AG claims to deliver exactly such an app.

A Document Manager should be able to do more than moving documents and files between folders, it should be able to display files and documents, to create and edit documents, to share files and documents and last not least, to convert them into a file format like pdf that most people can read without a hassle, regardless the type of device it is displayed.

“Mobile office is a lot about communication,” explains Schaffner. “it is about sharing documents, discussing content of documents, editing documents and move them around, from local devices to clouds and back. That’s where it can start to be a bother – moving a file to your iPad so that you can work with it. It shouldn’t matter if it is stored in Dropbox, Google Drive, MyDrive or on your Mac or PC. Moving files to your iPad should be smooth. With Document Manager you can connect to various clouds, and loading files directly from your PC or Mac to your iPad is thanks to the integrated SMB file server a smooth process.”

According to Pilcrow AG, Document Manager can handle a huge list of different file formats and convert them to pdf: doc, docx, xls, xlsx, notes, numbers, svg, ps, eps, tiff, png, jpg, jpeg, svg, tga, websites, maps, bmp, csv, Power Point, txt, rtf, html, md are probably the most common ones and should cover most needs.

“I noticed that I often started to work on my iPad while traveling in the train just to start reading a book after juggling back and forth between different apps. If an app is properly designed with the user in mind, this shouldn’t happen. There should be no need to switch apps in the first place. I told my devs what I needed, and they gave me ‘Document Manager – Scan Edit Convert’.” as Christian Schaffner continues. “I guess they took it serious about not wanting to switch apps since they included a reader with 35 languages, so that I don’t even have to to switch to read a book, I don’t even have to read it myself!”

Furthermore a text editor for rtf, txt, html and markdown files is included, the vector drawing tool adds nicely to that.

“What can I say … after rejecting the app a couple fo times I am now able to complete office tasks on-the-go on my iPad without app switching, and I don’t even need to leave the app to read a book or an ePub document!” states Christian Schaffner.

Document Manager will be launched during the next 2 weeks and will be available in the App Store in the business category for $4.99 (USD). iOS 7 or newer is needed to run the Document Manager.
