Edinburgh, Scotland – This just in: Harry, a gelatinous, gluttonous green blob, has crash-landed in a nearby tree. Now he’s mere inches away from the tantalizing fruit he craves: a big, round, juicy plum that’s just out of reach. (Oh, the humanity!) What’s a plum-obsessed green blob to do? Find out in Harry Likes Plums, a unique puzzle game released today for iPad for $2.99 / GBP1.99.

Developed independently by programmer Tim Leslie and heavily inspired by the Flash favorite Fantastic Contraption, physics puzzler Harry Likes Plums has players stretching their creative muscles to bring the plum-obsessed Harry into contact with the sweet fruit he so desires. Each time Harry’s faulty teleporter deposits him so close, and yet so far from his fruity fancy, it’s up to you to build a contraption that can carry him the rest of the way. Whatever you come up with, if it brings him and his beloved together Harry will thank you for your trouble!

Don’t be fooled by the colorful graphics. Harry Likes Plums is fun for all ages and will have even the most brainy puzzle gamers scratching their heads to come up with suitable solutions. The five simple objects in your toolbox – buttons, coins, bottle tops, and two types of connecting rods – can be combined into an infinite array of ingenious contraptions that allow for hundreds of possible solutions to each level. Harry Likes Plums presents a real challenge to even the brightest and most creative players as you come up with and keep tweaking your ideas, until you finally manage to build something that works.

A browser-based version of Harry Likes Plums that released in October has already been played 100,000 times. A version compatible with iPhone and iPod touch is coming soon.

Tim Leslie, an Edinburgh-based Flash developer who makes children’s educational games in his day job, has worked on Harry Likes Plums in his spare time for nearly two years with help from a freelance artist and a musician friend.
