Ashland, Oregon – Art Authority, developers of the award-winning line of classic art apps, today announced that their flagship Art Authority for iPad app now includes the ability to view Internet-based videos on hundreds of its key works. Art Authority for iPad 4.9.1, available through the App Store, displays a video button on the plaque beneath any work of art for which a video is available. The videos, usually a few minutes in length, discuss and visually convey aspects of the work itself, its surroundings, related works, historical context and other important facts.

“Along with our recently added ‘Art Real Size’ feature, the new videos further our goal of providing as many different ways as possible to explore, learn about, understand and enjoy classic works of art,” said Alan Oppenheimer, president of Art Authority.

Art Authority for iPad 4.9.1 is $9.99 through the App Store. Upgrades from previous versions are free. iOS 6 or later is needed to view the videos. All the details of the Art Authority line of apps are available on the Art Authority Web site and blog.

Art Authority for iPad is the only iPad Reference app named to both of Apple’s Rewind “best of” lists. It brings 70,000 high-resolution classic works of art to users’ fingertips. Hailed as “an experience unlike any other” and “visually dazzling,” the app (along with its K-12 age-appropriate edition) professionally displays paintings and sculptures by over 1000 major western artists from ancient times through current-day. Art Authority for Macintosh and iPhone bring similar functionality to these devices.

Art Authority is the product of an innovative collaboration between two separate software companies, Open Door Networks and Project A. Art Authority’s mission is the design, development and deployment of the best ways for users to experience art on their modern-day devices.
