Zurich, Switzerland – Metason today is proud to announce the first release of ArtistInfo for iOS, a port of their popular album credits, artist browser and music discovery application for Mac OS X immediately available on the App Store for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.
ArtistInfo delivers album credits by presenting a concise overview of artists involved in musical releases. Band members, musicians’ biographies, played music instruments, discographies, composers, producers, and performed musical genres are displayed in detail. ArtistInfo provides album credits for music played in iTunes, Apple Music, as well as Spotify. By enhancing the listening experience with contextual complements on musicians and bands, ArtistInfo favorably celebrates the role of the artists.
Features of the new releases of ArtistInfo for Mac and iOS include:
* Album credits about musicians, composers, and producers
* Portrait photo, biography, discography, and band relations of artists
* In sync with iTunes, Apple Music, and Spotify
* Playback of discovered music via iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, Rdio, and Youtube
* Management of favorite artists and albums among OS X and iOS devices via iCloud
* Sharing of links to artists and albums with friends via email, social media, and AirDrop
“ArtistInfo is motivated personally,” explained Philipp Ackermann, developer of the ArtistInfo App. “While enjoying my digital music collection at home and mobile on the go I always missed the information about performing musicians, played music instruments, band membership, and all the rich context information about artists involved in the albums I love listening. Todays digital tools for managing and streaming music are mainly song-oriented by favoring tracks and playlists. But discovering music through musicians, band members, artist networks, and album credits is still my preferred way to dive into the musical world.”
ArtistInfo uses Web Services and data sources such as Wikipedia, MusicBrainz, Discogs, Metason, and iTunes Store to mash-up relevant information on musicians, composers, producers, albums, instruments, and musical genres. Within ArtistInfo most liked artists and albums may be managed in a ‘My Favorites’ list – independent of having tracks locally in the iTunes music collection. ‘My Favorites’ lists are synchronized among all personal iOS and OS X devices via iCloud. Users can share their favorites with friends via email, social media, and AirDrop. Such personal tipps are sent as rich messages with portrait or cover image, detailed text, and a direct link to load the recommendation within the receiver’s ArtistInfo App. Playback of discovered artists, albums and songs is achieved by a simple click. Music playback is first looking for corresponding songs in the local iTunes collection. When not found ArtistInfo will check the availability of songs in Apple Music or Spotify. If still no song is found ArtistInfo is searching on Youtube.
