Oslo, Norway – Drylab R&D is pleased to announce Dailies Creator 2.3, with a new and flexible subscription model, tailored for freelancers. Creator ingests QuickTime-compatible files, transcodes to H.264, organizes them into shots, scenes, takes, and adds rich metadata. It improves collaboration, saves time and money, preserves artistic vision, and increases the quality of the finished production. Dailies Creator is unique in combining on-set metadata collection and intuitive, fast and rich metadata-based navigation.

* Local distribution works even without an Internet connection
* Import all common QuickTime files
* Sort, tag, comment as you go
* View video files even when off-set or offline
* Encrypted local connections
* Industry standard AES-256 encryption when distributing via the cloud
* Works with Drylab’s Set Report for instant dailies with rich metadata

Designed by film professionals, Dailies Creator is part of an integrated system for distributing digital dailies, successfully used by film and TV drama productions all over the world. Now, the DIT can provide the DP, producer, director, script supervisor, editor, special effects supervisor, talent, and others with Retina display ready dailies viewable on their own specially configured iPads. The convenience and security of the Drylab Dailies system is far superior to the DVDs, hard disks, FTP passwords, and emails.

John Christian Rosenlund, founder of Drylab R&D, is an acclaimed cinematographer with more than 26 feature films: “Normally, the script supervisor writes extensive reports on paper, but Set Report offloads much of this to a mobile iOS device, often saving an hour or more each day. In my opinion, if someone records metadata on set, it has to be easily accessible before it becomes really useful. This app was an immediate and overwhelming success inside the film industry with more than 6000 users all over the world. And now, Set Report can beam its metadata through the air to Dailies Creator or produce beautiful reports via emailing or printing.”

“Today’s workflow for dailies is a mess of computers, color profiles, hard drives, DVDs, TVs and cables. When the iPad arrived, we realized what we needed to do,” stated John Christian. “I have always been concerned about the importance of sharing creative and technical information among the crew. Since the birth of film production, it has been a good routine to gather the crew at the end of the day to watch dailies. It was a nice way of keeping up with the project, adjusting the cinematic style, making comments, checking focus and getting this feeling of working together with a common goal. I miss this team collaboration in the new digital workflow. The elegance of the Dailies Creator and Set Report combination is that all the reports automatically merge with the camera video files. This unique function allows users to immediately have a searchable archive in Dailies Viewer, categorized by day, scene, shot/slate and tags. In addition to the iPad’s built-in security, the app employs on-set pairing, and encrypted connections (both local and remote). Clips and metadata transferred via the cloud receive an extra layer of encryption. Set Report is an optional app, as metadata can be added manually within Dailies Creator.”

Drylab Dailies has been used on a rapidly increasing number of productions, ranging “A Thousand Times Good Night,” starring Academy Award winner Juliette Binoche, to the highly acclaimed WW2 TV drama “The Heavy Water War”, directed by Per Olav Srensen. “On The Heavy Water War I have used Dailies Viewer every day, every night, every morning. It’s been one of my most important companions trough these 99 days shot mid-winter in the Norwegian mountains and in the Czech Republic,” says Srensen.
