Coeur d’Alene, Idaho – OS X 10.9 Mavericks is “just around the corner” and already DEVONthink and DEVONnote 2.6.1 were prepared. Version 2.7 fixes the last few issues and make the apps great Mavericks citizens. But that is, of course, not all.

All editions of DEVONthink 2.7 now encrypt all metadata and all contents stored on remote sync locations such as Dropbox, WebDAV, or AFP. Sync locations can be cleaned much more easily and for hourly scheduled syncs users can now choose the minute of the hour when the sync should be run. No other document management app on the Mac gives its users so much flexibility and control over their data.

“Since Edward Snowden’s disclosures privacy has become a top priority for many people. Our users use our apps for confidential documents and so care a lot about where and how their data is stored. We give our users control over their data and, starting with DEVONthink 2.7, we also safely encrypt everything that we store outside of the user’s computer. We believe in freedom and let ours users the choice whether they want to use Dropbox, their own WebDAV server, an AFP server, or synchronize directly over the local network”, comments Eric Bohnisch-Volkmann, President of DEVONtechnologies.

DEVONthink 2.7 also improves support for Markdown and formatted notes. Notes can be taken with a single keyboard shortcut also as Markdown or, via the separate Sorter application, as formatted note. Formatted notes are based on HTML, can be edited in DEVONthink like rich text but also viewed in any web browser.

For DEVONthink To Go 1.x users this update fixes some severe sync issues, from accidentally creating placeholders to duplicating items in case of a sync conflict, and not deleting items correctly on both sides.

In addition all editions including DEVONnote come with user interface refinements that make the app easier to use and the editorial and research workflow more efficient and more safe. The update improves the overall reliability of many aspects of the application as well as e.g. the compatibility to Safari 6.x and later or certain websites. Of course this release brings important bug fixes, too.
