Coeur d’Alene, Idaho – DEVONtechnologies LLC today is proud to announce updates to all editions of its intelligent information and document manager, DEVONthink for Mac. Version 2.9.11 uses our new web service for decluttering clipped web pages and improves importing notes from Apple Notes and Evernote. HTML and Markdown documents can use relative links for local resources. The updates add several workflow enhancements, too, and fix bugs and glitches. All updates are free and recommended for all users.

All editions of DEVONthink 2.9.11 replace the use of Instapaper for decluttering clipped web pages and articles with our new web service. This makes the applications independent from third-party services. Two weeks ago Instapaper silently made their public API only available to logged-in users, breaking the workflows of many DEVONthink users.

In addition, DEVONthink 2.9.11 creates rich texts from notes imported from Apple Notes via the sharing extension, retaining attachments if possible, and links to the source of files imported from Evernote. It’s never been easier to make the switch. Users of Bookends 12.7.7 or later can drag multiple references to DEVONthink Pro and up in one go, making the two even better companions. And Shift-clicking a link creates a bookmark now, without interrupting the user’s research workflow.

Usability and Markdown Enhancements:
On the usability side DEVONthink 2.9.11 shows favorites when moving, replicating, or duplicating items. Recent items in menus or panels of DEVONthink and DEVONnote are expandable now to give easy access to their subgroups.

Markdown documents get support for XHTML headers, e.g., for styles or scripts, and both HTML and Markdown documents can use downward-relative links to resources. Images and other resources are found as long as they reside in the document’s group or its subgroups. News feeds support file URLs, now, and a new template placeholder inserts the author name defined in the application’s preferences.

Finally, DEVONthink 2.9.11 allows dropping PDFs into a PDF’s sidebar and Shift-clicking for selecting a range of pages again on macOS Sierra. The versions of DEVONthink also add a workaround for an issue in macOS Sierra that caused PDFs being displayed partially or appearing empty. All four updates fix further bugs and glitches, too, are free for existings users, and highly recommended.

All editions of DEVONthink require an Intel-based Mac and Mac OS X 10.9 or later. They can be downloaded from www.devontechnologies.com and be test-driven for free before they need to be properly licensed.
