Coeur d’Alene, Idaho – DEVONtechnologies LLC enhances all editions of its intelligent information and document manager with a completely rewritten synchronisation. DEVONthink 2.9 allows to keep databases synchronized using many means of transport. It transmits them between Macs on the local network or stores them in a syncable form on removable hard drives, USB sticks, or SD cards. If it is necessary to keep them in sync also from or with remote locations, it can create sync stores on Dropbox, any WebDAV server, or in the watched folders of for example iCloud Drive, One Drive, or Google Drive. DEVONthink 2.9 supports both self-hosted WebDAV servers and internet-based services such as CloudMe or box.com. Users of Deutsche Telekom in Germany can set up MagentaCLOUD with a few clicks too.
Huge speed bump and AES 256 bit encryption:
The next-generation sync is up to 688 times faster than before and up to 70 times faster than competing services. It uses less disk or cloud space and requires much fewer files and folders. Also, it consumes up to 80 percent less bandwidth, less RAM, and less computing power.
Strong AES 256 bit encryption ensures that private data stays private. DEVONthink 2.9 encrypts all data sent over the local network or saved to Dropbox or WebDAV. Neither the service providers nor DEVONtechnologies can read the data without the user’s consent.
In addition multiple clients can upload and download data to and from sync stores simultaneously without waiting for each other. And by synchronizing also indexed files and folders DEVONthink 2.9 can be used to synchronize any number of folders in the file system with another computer. Due to the highly efficient sync mechanism with built-in compression this is is usually faster than using the cloud services’ clients and not limited to just one folder.
Other Improvements:
DEVONthink 2.9 comes with the new ability to convert .emlx email messages to HTML. Thumbnails use less disk and sync store space and PDF thumbnails are scaled to width. DEVONthink Pro Office 2.9 comes with rewritten ScanSnap support. In addition, all editions including DEVONnote 2.9 handle large selections up to 2,000 times faster. They also remove search syntax when copying to the find pasteboard to make reusing search terms easier. The update fixes some minor issues and improves performance and stability too.
