London, United Kingdom – Digital Handstand Ltd. is proud to announce the release of Street Notes 1.0 for iPad, an app for collecting notes and ideas for travel destinations and using them as a personal travel guide. Available today, Street Notes lets anyone save personal favorites of great places, restaurants, and venues and arranges them beautifully on an interactive map. This app was specifically developed to assist the individual traveler, who rather trusts suggestions from friends, magazines and the concierge than “insiders’ tips” from tourist guides.
Street Notes for iPad assists users with keeping notes of great places to go, and tips from various sources, ordered by city, island, or travel region. On the way, Street Notes presents all the collected places for a certain destination as a personal and individual travel map.
To remember places later, users can enter and manage places information with annotations, pictures and bookmarks. Therefore it features powerful search capabilities for places details in multiple online databases such as Foursquare, Wikipedia or Apple MapKit. Street Notes simplifies searching and browsing for places-related information such as opening times with a built-in web browser without the constant need for switching between apps.
Stored places are grouped together in separate maps – for example by city, island, or travel region. The app provides a geographical overview with all places laid out in an interactive map in standard, satellite, or hybrid mode. On the way Street Notes helps getting around planned destinations by showing distances to stored places and providing directions from the current location.
“We love traveling, but not exclusively to places where every travel guide would send you to. So notes and ideas for travel destinations can contain very private information. That’s why we believe you should not have to join yet another social platform for that,” says Felix Matschke, co-founder of Digital Handstand.
Street Notes stores all information on the iPad, no online account is needed to manage the map information. To share selected places with friends, users can post partial or entire maps to Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr. Exported maps on a Tumblr blog also feature an interactive overview map in the post.
