Cupertino, California – Is it possible to see the quality of an investor portfolio or simple stock analysis in seconds? Yes, now it is. Enter FinBuddy, the new free IOS app that helps self-directed investors in the real world make decisions quickly and effectively. Investors frustrated with the lack of personalized insights from other sources now have a new friend in their corner, and their response has been enthusiastic.

“In US, there are 30M self-directed investors. Most of them spend too much time researching investments on Yahoo finance and other paid mobile apps, but these websites/apps don’t address basic investment questions – is a stock good or bad for user financial goals? How does it fit into user portfolio? Is it a good time to buy or sell?”

“They are also perplexed by the conflicting expert opinions on investment communities,” Maddali added. “Half of the experts say buy, the other half say sell.. Who should the user trust? How do they know who to trust? They are frustrated with the current investor experience and performance record. To help them we founded FinBuddy. FinBuddy is first iPhone application for self-directed investors and strongly believes the app will be embraced by users who went through these same frustrating, sub-optimal experiences and are looking for a better way forward.”

In FinBuddy app, users can understand their portfolio quality based on their risk tolerance, according to the company. Users enter their portfolio details and based on their risk tolerance FinBuddy provides a portfolio quality score, similar to a credit score, that everyone is familiar with. It is easy to understand and gives adequate details to know where a user stands with stock quality, fund quality, diversification and the risk/reward ratio. Obviously, this is actionable information that should be the foundation of any smart decision making process that involves changes to a stock portfolio. By focusing on clear cut factors, FinBuddy brings something concrete to the table, that can greatly aid the decision making process. Simple analysis can often be the most valuable analysis.

On top of this, FinBuddy also can also help users discover stock and funds ideas that can be used to improve the portfolio quality score. FinBuddy is set up where users can explore these possibilities in an entertaining way, and even employ the apps filters to discover investment gems that may have otherwise gone unnoticed. Some of the filters available include: happening stocks, high quality stocks, high dividend stocks, stocks by macro themes, recent IPOs, international stocks and even stock ideas from friends. The “similar” search function, influenced by Pandora allows searching in other sectors in a way that makes investigating different stock possibilities engaging and fun. The app also includes social networking like interaction with friends that allow sharing of stock ideas and other forms of collaboration.

The FinBuddy App includes timely alerts from the company, where FinBuddy shares news, market events and other financial data to help users derive actionable insight. These alerts are based on the company’s powerful data and text analytics and machine learning capabilities that they put to use in giving the app users the best information possible.

“FinBuddy team is super excited about this release. Our team wants investors to save 2 to 3 hours a week by avoiding aimless wandering on Yahoo Finance and elsewhere, when instead they can use our app for a few minutes a day to make better investment decisions,” commented Baker Nanduru, FinBuddy co-founder. “Team is actively working with users to further enhance features to improve the investor experience”

Clearly this drive to provide self-directed investors with a unique tool designed to make their investment lives easier in FinBuddy is being met with approval. The feedback from users has been almost entirely positive. Early users spent more than 30 minutes a week analyzing stocks and portfolios.

Jim Brune, CEO and founder of Online Banking Report and the Finovate Conferences, recently remarked, “The FinBuddy UI proves that even serious investment tracking works on smartphone screen.”
