Amsterdam, Netherlands – AssistiveWare, a leading innovator in assistive technology, today announced a major new release of its symbol-supported communication app Proloquo2Go. Version 5.0 of the award-winning app is designed to support the language development of AAC users and to enhance the general usability of the app.

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) app Proloquo2Go already provides a voice to over 150,000 individuals around the world. It is one of the few AAC apps that covers all users, from beginning to advanced communicators. To make sure users reach their full potential, AAC best practice recommends starting out with a large grid size. If this is considered too overwhelming for the user, more advanced buttons are hidden and gradually revealed as user skills grow. Yet, this is a time-consuming and complicated task. Proloquo2Go 5.0 introduces Progressive Language, which helps to hide and reveal buttons in a developmental order.

“Progressive Language in Proloquo2Go 5 allows clinicians to take a research led approach to language development whilst staying true to best practice in AAC,” said Will Wade and Euan Robertson, AAC Consultants at the ACE Centre (UK). “The Progressive language feature in Proloquo2Go is one of the most exciting developments in the AAC world in 2017.”

Proloquo2Go 5.0 also adds a vocabulary Search, a feature that was frequently requested by users. Designed with a clinical perspective, it shows the path to the button and guides the user there step-by-step. If the searched button is located in Storage, it will automatically be added to the user’s vocabulary.

“Vocabulary Search has been on the wish list of our community and of everyone at AssistiveWare for a while,” David Niemeijer, CEO and founder of AssistiveWare explained. “We explored different ways of implementing this and the feedback on our prototypes suggest that it turned out even better than our users were expecting.”
