Keaau, Hawaii – Kilauea Update has just been released by Foxy Rocket, LLC in Hawaii on the App Store. Kilauea Update delivers up-to-date news on the eruption of Kilauea Volcano on the big island of Hawaii.
The Kilauea Update iOS app delivers news and information about the recent activity at Kilauea Volcano from the USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory (HVO). Daily activity reports include an assigned alert level and aviation color code as well as details regarding current volcanic and seismic activity.
View earthquake activity via an easy-to-read graph and on the big map so you can tell exactly what went on in Hawaii this week. HVO webcams show the activity at the Halema’uma’u crater near the visitor center, a close-up of the lava lake, as well as current lava flow activity and thermal images.
Photos and video posted by USGS personnel show some impressive views of the current activity at and around Kilauea. View crisp photos and descriptions of lava flows taken by USGS personnel with much closer access than possible for anyone. Videos taken by helicopter can be particularly compelling.
Also, flow maps show where the current lava flow is headed compared with where it’s been going in the past. Compare the latest flow with previous images to see just how quickly the lava is advancing! Data provided by USGS. For more information see the USGS website.
