Pune, India – Max Secure Software releases an update for its Mac AntiVirus to detect and clean the new WireLurker malware. WireLurker infects iOS devices through trojanized Mac OS X apps. It has the ability to infect even non-jail broken iOS devices. It has already been downloaded over 300,000 times and is spreading through Mac devices to iOS devices. Max Secure Malware research team has been working on it and has added multiple checks to detect the WireLurker malware. It was initially detected in China where the WireLurker was found in trojan Mac apps. The trojan Mac app pushes malicious programs on the iOS device when it is connected to the infected Mac. At Max Secure the AntiVirus apps for Mac and iOS are equipped to check and clean the WireLurker.

The malware has been spread mainly through a third-party App Store for Mac called Maiyada, primarily a source for Chinese software. Once the computer is infected through downloaded software from the store, Wirelurker then spreads onto iOS devices that are connected over USB to the computer. WireLurker gets its name from its ability to cross from a Macintosh to one of Apple’s mobile devices via a USB cable.
