Helsinki, Finland – App developer Musopia, with more than 1 million iOS users and music top 10 positions in 49 countries, has teamed up with one of the world’s biggest guitar manufacturers, Samick Music corporation, in an effort to create a greater community of guitar players by offering the popular FourChords guitar teaching app free with the purchase of any Samick, Silvertone or Greg Bennett guitar. The free Samick sponsored VIP Subscription is available in US from February.

FourChords has a dead-simple interface that boils popular songs down into digestible chunks. It starts by naming the main chords used, diagramming how to form them and letting the user play back a sample to hear what each chord sounds like. Once familiar with them, guitarist can play along with the song as the app flows through each chord in a Guitar Hero-style timeline that stays in sync with the music.

“There are a lot of people who would love to play guitar but find it too difficult and time consuming. Most of them end up quitting and casting aside their dream”, said Paula Lehto from Musopia. “Now there is perfect anti-quit tool available: FourChords is a fast-track for learning to play new songs. The songs have been re-arranged into easy version to played only with few simple chords. In fact, all the 900 songs in the songbook can be played with only 13 chords.”

“While Samick has long been known as a great guitar manufacturer, we also understand how critical it is to connect with new and future players,” stated Tony De La Rosa, Product Manager/Artist Relations. “The FourChords app looks as cool as a video game, is easy to use, and is mobile – the perfect combination for connecting with a culture that wants and expects mobile access to just about anything that’s displayed on a screen. It really helps our customers to get started and enjoying playing cool songs with their new guitars as soon as possible.”

This candid co-operation between mobile solutions and traditional industries brings valuable benefits to the customers, in this case beginner guitarists who seek a way to learn to play their new guitar in a fast and fun way.
