Stockholm, Sweden – We use emojis daily – in texts, emails, status posts, twitter updates, and beyond – so naturally gamers and quiz-lovers are gravitating toward a quiz designed specifically around emojis. This October, game developer Apprope is proud to release a new game that recreates some of the world’s most beloved and despised historical and cultural icons – but this time, they’re being resurrected as emojis.

Imagine Marilyn Monroe or Barack Obama as emojis. With Apprope’s new app, Emoji Quiz, there is plenty left to the imagination as you guess who each emoji character is. With this app, players see various emojis of fictional characters, historical figures, cultural icons, and celebrities and have to guess who they are.

This friendly, fun app is oftentimes amusing, as each character has been personally drawn to represent people throughout the centuries in a cartoonish, “emoji” way. Its unique content keeps the game interesting, as players will see emojis they have never seen before.

People who have a knack for subtle facial characteristics will be especially skilled at this game. Even if players get stuck, they can receive hints, such as movie lines, lyrics, or specific quotes from that person in history.

From Gandhi to Jay-Z, Apprope has designed a game that encompasses a broad range of world culture that almost any user (who doesn’t live under a rock) can both enjoy and find challenging.

Further, to make the game more challenging and social, players can invite their Facebook friends and keep track of each other’s progress. Who will be the first to solve all emojis in the game?

Emoji Quiz is released October 4 and will be available for free for iPhone, iPod, iPad and Android devices.

The game has been translated into English, French, German, Spanish, Dutch, Norwegian, Swedish, and Danish.
