Lenexa, Kansas – Carving Technologies, LLC announces the release and immediate availability of Me-On-A-Pumpkin 1.1.7, the company’s pumpkin carving stencil creation app for iOS and Android devices. First introduced in 1998, Me-On-A-Pumpkin was the first software of its kind, in the world. This easy-to-use app allows anyone to create unique pumpkin carving stencils using an iPhone or iPad. Users may upload any detailed image of their favorite subject, follow the simple instructions to create the perfect pumpkin carving stencil, and then print directly to their printer. Just print, carve, and enjoy the best Jack-O-Lanterns on the block, this year!

Me-On-A-Pumpkin allows the user to upload images in several common file formats, and produces an initial thumbnail image. Users then use slide controls to adjust the level of detail desired, the thickness of the lines or edges, and the color saturation to clarify the image. Once satisfied, the image is presented as a jack-o lantern in yellow and orange. The yellow illustrating the light projected from within the pumpkin, and the orange representing the pumpkin remaining after carving.

The image is then tested automatically for fallout. Areas which would fall free during carving are illustrated in red. Users are provided with simple pen tools used to either add pumpkin material to connect areas within the image and eliminate fallout, or add more yellow area, if detail is not required. As changes are made, the red or fallout areas vanish, as if by magic!

After eliminating the fallout, the image on the pumpkin is ready to print. Users may select either dots or lines on the printout. Once printed, and affixed to the pumpkin, dots are typically used to mark the surface of the pumpkin with an awl or pin. Carving follows these marks on the face of the pumpkin. Others prefer printing solid line stencils, which are affixed to the pumpkin with tape.

Carving is done directly through the paper stencil. Other options include scraping areas of the pumpkin skin to provide relief carving effects, and provide interesting effects once the pumpkin is lighted, allowing partial light to penetrate the areas scraped or gouged away. The pumpkins may then be lighted by any safe and convenient means, revealing the true image projected from within. Happy Halloween!
