Seattle, Washington – Patook LLC today is thrilled to announce the release of Patook 1.4, an update to the company’s popular social networking app developed for iOS and Android devices. Patook is a unique user-friendly app that focuses on matching singles and couples for strictly platonic friendships. It uses an innovative system trained on years of data to identify messages that are considered flirty or inappropriate. Whenever a user attempts to send such a message, they are notified that it will not be delivered.

Finding new friends gets harder as you get older and is always difficult when you relocate. Only a handful of websites try to mitigate this problem but often end up filled with users who are after romantic relationships. But this new social media app aims to be the go-to app for strictly platonic relationships, by using artificial intelligence (AI) to detect and block any attempts at flirting.

Launched in ten languages, Patook matches its users based on shared interests, conversation topics and pet peeves. Its dynamic matching algorithms allow it to accurately connect like-minded people who are looking to make friends in their own communities. People can join as an individual or as a couple.

“There are plenty of online dating sites but Patook is strikingly different,” explained Antoine El Daher, CEO of Seattle based Patook LLC. “Our focus is on friendship – helping people make platonic new friends and interacting with the community of people around them. Our only expectation is that users maintain a positive, upbeat environment.”

How does Patook find people you’re likely to like? One key way is to uniquely let users take charge by using the app’s points system to specifically identify and rate the value of the criteria they want in a new friend. For example, someone could choose to give people from a certain country 10 points, while they give people who play the violin another five points, and people whose interests include hiking 20 points. The points are summed up to provide the best possible matches.

Then there’s Patook’s user ranking algorithm. It is vastly different from those used in online dating and anonymously keeps track of the ratings users give other users and finds great matches based on that. Patook also introduces the concept of local discussions, which can be seen by users within a certain range and allows its users to kickstart conversations. Users can upvote, downvote or reply to public discussions. Patook says that it places great importance on safety and security. Users have strict control over the kind of people who are allowed to see their profile. For instance, users could set up custom rules that limit views to other single women over the age of thirty who have children. Communications between users and the Patook server take place through a highly encrypted connection.

Said El Daher, “In today’s world so many people are on the move. You have students starting college, couples relocating because of a new job to a different state or even a different country, and people retiring to begin a new life. And that often means moving somewhere where they don’t know anybody. Patook provides a fast, easy and fun way to get connected with similar people with similar interests. Initial feedback to the app has been extraordinary. People seeking friends and not romantic relationships have been left out in the cold until now. We anticipate rapid growth among all genders, and so far have seen approximately 40% women, 40% men, and 20% joining as couples.”

Patook LLC is a company based in the greater Seattle area. We’ve been working hard on the site for a couple of years now and just launched the app for our users. We want to build a safe and reliable way for people to make awesome new friends. We believe that there are people who would be great friends to each other but who will probably never meet: students who are cooped up studying all day or who can’t find people who share their interests in their departments; new moms who barely have time to go out, let alone seek out new friends; couples who have moved to a new country and who don’t know anybody there; people who have moved for work; and just normal people who have not made new long-lasting friends since high school or college, or who don’t have any great friends.
