Based in New York – Today, Random House launched Stephen Hawking’s Snapshots of the Universe, an iPad(R) app based on the writings and work of Stephen Hawking, and the first official app from the world’s most famous living scientist. The app is now available on the App Store.
Stephen Hawking’s Snapshots of the Universe teaches both adults and students the principles that control our universe through eight simple and fun experiments. Each interactive experiment explains some of the basic theories that govern our lives on Earth as well as the movement of the stars and planets. Select experiments also include video segments with further visual explanations by Stephen Hawking.
Users can play and learn at the same time in each of the eight experiments:
* Spin planets in orbit to create your own solar system
* Drop objects with Galileo to learn about gravity
* Let Einstein feel some G-force in outer space
* Search for black holes in the constellation of Leo
* Discover Einstein’s warped worldview
* Plus more…
Anyone interested in building a foundation in basic physics now has the perfect tool in Stephen Hawking’s Snapshots of the Universe from the world-renowned theoretical physicist.
“This app provides a great opportunity to introduce Professor Hawking’s teachings to a whole new audience, through an entirely new medium,” said Scott Shannon, Senior Vice President and Publisher of Digital Content at Random House. “We are very proud to continue our publishing tradition with Professor Hawking, now across more platforms than ever.”
