Rectangle was conceived by photographer and photo lab owner Jim Drought III who recognized two simple truths: 1) Far too many photos we take wind up out-of-sight buried deep in our phones (or computers), and 2) Today’s phones are sporting better-than-ever high-resolution cameras, allowing print sizes not previously possible. From this, the idea was hatched to create an app that allows users to easily display their photos, the way they were intended. In July 2012, teamed with 16 year-old iOS programming phenom Canzhi Ye, the two set-off to create an app that was as easy to use as it was unique in its offerings.
