Seattle, Washington – Those packing away the camping gear and calling it quits on summer have an update that might give them pause. Fifth Star Labs, makers of the popular stargazing app Sky Guide have released their latest version on the App Store, with an interface-lift a’la iOS 7. Among the new features are translucency, parallax effects for added depth in articles and dynamic text for those that misplaced their bifocals. The developers have also included over 250 of the brightest visible satellites which are trackable across the sky and a red mode to help preserve night vision under dark skies.
Sky Guide can be held to the sky to automatically find stars, constellations, planets, satellites and more. It was created for all ages and experience levels to be educational, immersive and fun. Sky Guide also features an all-sky photographic panorama composed of over 37,000 images taken by Fifth Star Labs co-founder Nick Risinger. The original music and sounds were composed by Mat Jarvis, contributor to the award-winning soundtrack for the game Osmos.
