London, United Kingdom – Sauce Digital has launched a Kickstarter campaign to crowdfund production of their latest endeavour, Spritebox, a mobile gaming ecosystem that puts games creation at the fingertips of every iPhone and iPad user. Spritebox users will be able to create games on their iOS devices, play games that other people make and publish games to the App Store itself. All of which is done without writing code. The campaign is live and set to run for 30 days. People interested in backing the project can do so on the Kickstarter project page.
The foundation of Spritebox is an iOS app that provides the system for creating the games – directly from an iPad or iPhone. It also provides a way to then share creations with the Spritebox community, and a platform for playing the games created by other users. If the campaign is successful, Spritebox will also offer a publishing tool that can be used to publish games directly to the App Store. Sauce Digital has already used elements of the Spritebox system to create many of its own games, such as Nano Rally and Snow Fight – Both of which hit the Top 10 of all apps in the US and were featured by Apple on the App Store.
Spritebox Features:
* Create games on your iPad or iPhone
* Simple to use, no code required
* Share games with the community
* Play games made by others
* Publish games to the App Store
* An asset store for graphics & audio
* Import graphics & audio
* Game templates
The Kickstarter campaign page explains in detail how Spritebox will work. It also explains who might make use of the final product, such as Amateur Developers or Brands looking for a new way to reach customers. The rewards for backing the project are varied and include; All future Spritebox content free, a non-expiring App Store publishing licence and also your game published into the App Store. The campaign has a target of GBP45000 which needs to be raised in the 30 days. Should this succeed, Sauce Digital aim to launch Spritebox in May 2015.
