Linz, Austria – Austrian indie Mac & iOS developer, Karl Traunmueller today released Taskdeck for iOS, the long-awaited mobile companion to Mac task and to-do list app Taskdeck for Mac. The Taskdeck family of apps now comes with world-class Cloud sync that puts in on par with big names like Wunderlist or Things.
Taskdeck, the lightweight, low-overhead task and to-do list app that originated on the Mac is now also available for iPhone and iPad. Adopting the clean, minimalist user interface of its Mac cousin, the universal iOS app focuses on effective task management, paired with advanced features such as a tagging system, file attachments, or Dropbox file sync.
Says Karl Traunmueller, the developer of Taskdeck: “Taskdeck for Mac has become an essential tool in my daily work as a software developer. What was missing badly, however, was a mobile companion app. With the release of Taskdeck for iOS, I can now manage my tasks on all my devices and Macs, all smoothly kept in sync by the wonderful new Cloud sync feature.”
Taskdeck employs a very simple structural model of lists and tasks, where related tasks are grouped into lists. Each list carries a badge that shows the number of open, due, or overdue tasks. The total number of due or overdue tasks is also reflected by an application icon badge number, to focus attention on items that require immediate action.
For prioritization of tasks, Taskdeck employs the simple principle ‘Order = Priority’. To facilitate this in an efficient manner, tasks can be dragged up or down a list at any time. Besides essential task list app features such as notes, due dates, or searching and filtering, Taskdeck also offers a tagging system for categorization of tasks, image or file attachment (a feature not commonly found in task list apps), Dropbox integration for attachment synchronization, and zero-interaction Cloud sync.
Karl Traunmueller adds: “Very few task list apps get sync right, at least at the granularity I expect from a proper sync implementation. I wanted flawless, near-realtime sync that requires no user attention whatsoever. To put it more blatantly: sync that doesn’t suck. And I’m extremely pleased with the result, Taskdeck’s sync is pretty amazing.”
Changes to tasks or lists are replicated almost instantly, typically in less than three seconds. Subtle animations hint the user at where changes occur: if, for example, a task gets moved within a list on a Mac, the task will animate to that same slot on a connected iPhone or iPad just seconds later.
The infrastructure that makes this all possible is called Taskdeck Cloud. User who want to use Cloud sync need to sign up by providing an email and a password. A free 15-day Cloud sync trial is activated for all newly created accounts. After that trial period, Taskdeck Cloud requires a paid subscription that costs $2.99 (USD) per 30 days, available as an in-app purchase.
