MONTRAL – There are numerous apps that monitor weather forecasts with smartphones. However, the French Canadian startup ZelStudio pushed this concept a step further by allowing users to customize alarms depending on weather conditions for upcoming days. In addition to choosing between the general conditions like rain or fine weather, users can set a desired temperature range and a required amount of precipitation that will trigger their alarm. This innovating concept allows anyone to be alerted, up to 10 days in advance, if the perfect day is coming soon.

The ‘Weather Alarm’ app allows users to follow weather forecasts anywhere in the world (city, park, beach, ski resort, etc.) through an easy to use interactive map. The user can determine the exact location to monitor with a great precision. For each followed location, ‘Weather Alarm’ issues current conditions, a detailed forecast for the next hours, 3-hour precipitation and forecasts for up to ten days.

A user can create a custom weather alarm and automatically receive notifications if selected weather conditions are expected in the coming days (from the next 24 hours to the next 10 days). To activate an alarm, the user can choose between one of seven conditions to be monitored (sunny day, cloudy day, rain, storms, snow, fog or sleet), set a temperature range and determine the expected amount of rain or snow. In addition, the user can choose to be alerted if selected weather conditions are expected in the coming days or on a specific date.
