Austin, Texas – Xojo, Inc., creator of multi-platform development tools, today announced the general availability of Xojo 2015 Release 1, a major new release of their multi-platform rapid development tool that now includes the ability to develop both 32-bit and 64-bit native iOS applications.
Currently serving over 280,000 users worldwide, Xojo is the best environment for professional developers, citizen developers and hobbyists. Xojo applications compile to machine code for both web and desktop applications for greater performance and security.
Xojo users can build iOS applications in the same way desktop and web applications are created. Users can drag and drop to create the user interface and use one straight-forward programming language to implement the functionality of their application. Xojo makes it significantly faster and easier to create native iOS apps than any other tool.
Many iOS business apps rely on a web-based server application that provides business logic and database access. Xojo is the only development tool that provides the ability to create both a native iOS client application and a native server application from a single language and tool. Users experience true multi-platform development with Xojo, creating their app on one platform and delivering a completely native product to users on another platform.
“64 bit support is by far the number one feature request from our users so it is a major part of Xojo development plan for this year,” commented Geoff Perlman, Xojo Founder and CEO. “We started with 64 bit support for iOS and plan to roll out 64 bit support for the rest of our platforms in the coming months.”
This latest release adds 170 general updates and 4 new features. In addition to the iOS improvements, this release also adds a multitude of IDE improvements, language improvements and an updated version of SQLite.
Xojo 2015 Release 1 feature highlights include:
* iOS builds are now created as Universal Binaries containing both 32-bit and 64-bit parts as required to meet Apple’s new App Store submission requirements
* A new TargetARM constant for conditional compilation
* IDE improvements, including preference for searching, 1024×1024 icon sizes and better display of debugger values for pictures and arrays
* Language improvements, such as an added Parse method to Integer, Double and Single data types
* SQLite updated to 3.8.8
