Darmstadt, Germany – PixelSplincher is proud to announce Motion Graphix, a 2.5D keyframe animation app for iPad. The app lets iPad artists compose various graphic elements into multilayer 2.5D animations. 2.5D animation uses flat elements moving in 2D, and adds a depth to each element. As the element moves in depth, it naturally scales larger and smaller, matching the perspective transformation due to a 3D camera. The depth of the element also determines which elements go in front, which behind. Using a simulated 3D camera means Motion Graphix can also create stereoscopic views of the animation, and save 3D movies formatted for 3D TVs, red-blue glasses, or even VR headsets.

From Ken-Burns-style photo montages to animated GIF ‘memes’, from instructional videos to stereoscopic film titles, Motion Graphix lets iPad animators work with sprites, animated GIFs, particle systems, text, shapes, and curves, simply stepping through time and adjusting elements to automatically build a keyframe animation. Of course they can also apply pre-built animations, like easing in and out, bouncing, or spiraling. Adding moving graphics to videos or still photo backgrounds is easy enough for kids, while advanced features like the ‘dope sheet’ and timeline editor make Motion Graphix powerful enough for pros. Motion Graphix offers range of export options from PNG and JPG still images to mp4 or animated GIF movies at full or reduced resolutions, and shares those results with compatible social media, cloud storage, or image/movie editing apps.

First previewed at the SIGGRAPH 2016 Appy Hour, Motion Graphix brings together an unprecedented variety of graphical elements in a single creative environment, all on the iPad. And Motion Graphix leverages Apple’s CoreAnimation and CoreImage frameworks for highly optimized performance even on older iPad models.
