Aventura, Florida – Bacciz today is pleased to announce that four of their award-winning children’s apps for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices have been recognized by the Children’s eBook Awards (CEBA). CEBA celebrates innovation of book and technology and recognizes excellence in a variety of categories. Their 2014 award winners named Old MacDonald Had A Farm, A Letter To Me, Ready-K!, and Brave Rooney and the Super-Sized Superheroes as the best in each of their respective divisions.

The CEBA contest was established to celebrate the greatest accomplishments in the growing field of eBooks, and to inspire readers, authors, and publishers alike. According to the CEBA release announcing the awards winners, “eBooks and Apps are revolutionizing reading, learning, and enjoyment. Apps are trending toward an increase in interactivity that builds focus and development as a ‘play’ medium. Overall, of children that have read an eBook, 1 in 5 have said that they are now reading more books, a trend that is also seen in adults (reading eBooks seems to increase reading of traditional books, too). CEBA celebrates this spirit.” (10 December 2014)

CEBA awarded its 2014 Best Original Characters app for ages 5-8 to Brave Rooney and the Super-Sized Superheroes. This app, which has also been named a 2014 “Mom’s Choice” Gold Winner, and has been recognized with a Kirkus Star as a book of remarkable merit, was authored by three-time EMMY-nominated writer, Gerry Renert. The interactive app provides a fun way to build a child’s self esteem while helping them with the ever-present challenge of “fitting in.” Brave Rooney includes over 120 interactive features and animations, fun illustrations, 2 reading modes, games, and highly customizable options.

Recently featured as “What’s Hot” in the App Store, Old MacDonald Had A Farm was named 2014 Best Farm Animal app for ages 2-4 by CEBA. Designed for preschoolers and their parents, this classic tale of animals on a farm includes 60 interactive animations, physics simulations, and highly customized options that present a variety of activities. Kids can sing along with the professional vocal and banjo accompaniment as they learn about 11 different farm animals.

Ready-K! was awarded CEBA’s 2014 Best Instructional app for ages 2-4. Based on the Common Core State Standards Initiative, Ready-K! contains 12 interactive and engaging scenes that progressively become more challenging for the child. Ready-K! is designed to facilitate a successful transition to kindergarten by providing parents and educators with objective data concerning their child’s readiness.

“(Ready-K!) really will allow a parent to see what skills are important to introduce and prepare a child for the classroom as well as what Kindergarten students will be expected to learn.” says AppyMall. “The more aware a parent is of learning expectations, the easier it is for the parents and teacher(s) to work together in the best interest of the child’s learning.” (24 May 2014)

CEBA recognized A Letter To Me as its Best Girl-Oriented app for ages 2-4. This app has the child create their own avatar so they can appear as the main character in their personalized story. During the adventure, the child can learn new vocabulary, interact with the animations, and play games. To strengthen and build dialogue between family members, A Letter To Me allows the child to receive letters and messages from family members, and to draw pictures that can be shared with others. Another unique feature of A Letter To Me provides is an avatar that reflects what kids who have cancer might be experiencing.

“We’re so excited to receive this recognition from the Children’s eBook Awards,” says Alan Bigio, president of Bacciz. “Creating a product that can be entertaining, educational, practical, or all three, is the true inspiration for each app we make. To achieve this goal and be recognized by such a prestigious organization for the positive impact these four apps have on our target audiences is a tremendous honor.”
