Reston, Virginia – Software and Computer Systems Company, LLC, (SCSC) has released Scannerz 1.9 for the Mac OS X Operating System. This version is fully compatible with MacOS 10.10 (Yosemite) and remains compatible with preceding versions of MacOS between MacOS 10.5 (Leopard) through 10.9 (Mavericks).

Scannerz is a hard drive, SSD, and system analysis tool utilizing advanced diagnostic algorithms developed by SCSC. It can be used to analyze not only the drive, but the circuitry supporting the drive. Using the product’s Diagnostic Mode, a user can analyze drives, SSDs, and the system for bad blocks or sectors, weak sectors, data corruption between the media and the hosting system, system bus and memory problems, and evaluate system and drive timeouts. The package also includes the recently released update to Performance Probe, named Performance Probe 2. Other elements in the package include the file system events monitor, FSE, as well as the company’s emergency boot and cloning tool, Phoenix. All components in the package are now certified for use with Yosemite.

“This is a huge update to Scannerz,” stated Bill Wagner, the company owner. “With the complete set of tools in the Scannerz suite now being fully Yosemite compliant, it can help individuals isolate hard drive, system, or software problems that may act like hard drive problems. This is particularly important when a new operating system version is released because users may find their systems slowing down, bottlenecking, or consuming resources like memory for what seem to be unknown reasons. Many people believe the hard drive is the problem when in fact it’s often just the way a new OS version behaves or a problematic application . With Scannerz, Performance Probe 2, and the rest of the tools in the Scannerz suite, a user should be able to isolate nearly any type of problem, whether it be hardware or software related.”

“Our goal with the Scannerz suite has not only been to provide users with the best drive or SSD testing tool on the market, our goal is to help people find any type of problem their systems may be having. If a hard drive has bad or marginal sectors, Scannerz can find them. If an SSD has bad blocks, Scannerz will find them. If the system has bad cables or system problems, Scannerz can help isolate them. If the problem is software or resource related, Performance Probe 2 can help track down the culprits. If a particular application is gobbling up drive space for what appear to be mysterious reasons, FSE or FSE-Lite can usually identify the exact process causing the problems. If the user needs to clone a drive or attempt to recover files from a damaged drive, Phoenix can do it. What we’re trying to do with this package is make it something that a user can rely on to help identify a myriad of problems, not just hard drive problems.”

Current users of the product will be notified by the company in the next few days for update instructions. The update will be free for all current users of fully featured versions of Scannerz. Scannerz 1.9 for Mac OS X is fully supported by SCSC in the U.S. for registered users.
