Fort Lauderdale, Florida – Teknos Interactive’s new phonics app, Word Wheel: Short Vowels, is now available in the App Store. Word Wheel is an educational app that guides children in learning phonics, short vowels, and consonants sounds. Children will recognize beginning consonant/consonant blend sounds and short vowel sounds which serves as an important step in learning to read.

Word Wheel: Short Vowels was created for and tested by children between 2 and 6 years old. Word Wheel inspires children to learn short vowel sounds by allowing them to both see and hear the word. Kids will see colorful images of each word and hear word pronunciation by a real person. Word Wheel offers 170 words with 30 vowel combination groups. Kids can select one of the five short vowels sounds, and pair beginning consonant sounds to ending vowel combinations.

Progress is recorded as kids are challenged to earn gold stars and master words. Fully mastered words can be hidden to assist a child’s concentration on remaining words. Word Wheel also includes a quiz mode that reinforces the words kids have learned.

“Once they see, and hear, how the sounds blend together with an image they can identify with, there is no holding them back. Word Wheel makes the perfect practice app for home as well as a great Teacher Tool to reinforce lessons in class.” – BestAppsForKids.org
